Sightings

7 December
A male Scarlet Honeyeater foraging in canopy of tall eucalypt, one female within 20m of male foraging in Blackwood, Marysville, Michaeldene walking track, about 500m from Marysville end of track, thanks Richard and Margaret Alcorn, Doug Tippett.
 
7 December
Up to a dozen Orange Chats regularly present around NW side of Hirds Swamp near Cohuna, thanks Simon Starr.
 
7 December
A female White-headed Pigeon quietly feeding in the front garden of a holiday home some 200 metres from the Snowy River estuary in Willis Avenue, Marlo, thanks Len Axen.
 
6 December
A Red-whiskered Bulbul was seen in a park in Greenmeadows Gardens, St Kilda - the North Eastern corner,in the block bounded by Balaclava, Hotham and Orrong roads (Melway 58 G12), thanks Greg Oakley.
 
5 December
After heavy winds on Wednesday 2 Hooded Plovers, with chicks and 23 Little Terns were still on the eastern side of the Snowy River in Marlo, thanks Danny Skipp
 
4 December
A male Black Honeyeater and 3 male and 1 female Pied Honeyeaters were seen 200 m north of the picnic rotunda, moving between eucalypts and wattles, Cussen Park, Tatura, VicRoads Directory, Map 270, Grid F/G3.  Both species previously sighted 1/12/02 by Ellen O'Reilly & Don Roberts, and on 2/12/02 by Betty Thornton, thanks Bill Ramsey.
 
3 December
Both a male and female Little Bittern were seen flying, after being disturbed from the edge of a small wetland, 30km North East of Bairnsdale at Waterholes Guest House, thanks Rohan Bilney.
 
2 December
A White-headed Pigeon was seen in Narracan (about 20km S. of Moe) in the foothills of the Strzeleckis, South Gippsland, thanks Michael Mules
 
29 November
A flock of 20 Topknot Pigeons seen flying over Nicholson River from the Waterholes Guest House, 30km North East of Bairnsdale, 10km south of Deptford, thanks Rohan & Roger Bilney.
 
28 November
A Baillon's Crake was seen at Station Waters wetlands adjacent to Kororoit Creek in the Cairnlea Estate, Deer Park, thanks Sally Koehler.
 
28 November
A Baillon's Crake was seen at Albert Park Lake in front of the island in the Golf course side of the park, thanks Alex Farias.
 
28 November
An Australasian Bittern was seen at the Hallam wetlands, thanks Giles Daubeney.
 
27 November
While no Yellow Wagtail was seen a Little Bittern was clearly heard, but not seen, about 50 metres east of the Wagtail area a the Heatherton Road Wetlands in Dandenong, thanks Tom Fletcher.
 
27 November
On the 27th there were 5 Red-necked Avocets and 8 on 29th at the Edithvale Wetlands, in front of the bird hide, thanks Paul Hackett.
 
26 November
2 immature (female?) and 1 male Southern Emu-wrens were in a patch of dense heath scrub and there were many Blue-wings Parrots around at Carlisle State Park, Gellibrand, thanks Ian Davies.

Updates

One male and one female Pied Honeyeater along with now upwards of 40 Black Honeyeaters at Mologa railway reserve West of Terrick Terrick NP on the 7th, thanks Simon Starr
 
The Scarlet-chested Parrots and Grey Falcons reported from the Murrayville area were not seen again on the weekend of the 23rd, thanks Paul Peake
 
The Red-whiskered Bulbuls were again seen at Wilson Reserve in Ivanhoe on the 21st, behind the cricket pitches, thanks John Harris.
 
The Terek Sandpiper could not be found at Stockyard Point on the 14th, however the Whiskered Terns were present as well as 27 Red-necked Avocets, thanks Robbie Brown.
 
There are now 15 White-headed Pigeons resident in Jarrahmond in eastern Victoria
