I had a strange experience in far north NSW last month. We are accustomed to currawongs, magpies, kookaburras, ravens and miners hanging around camp areas with hopeful expectations for a handout. But on this occasion 2 seagulls quietly waiting within a metre of my feet amused us by  keeping busy catching flies that were annoyingly flying around just above the ground.
Whilst I didn't reward them with food, I certainly gave them some positive 'feedback', however they became 'fed up' after some time and left.
This was a first observation of this type for us.
