I checked out the Lewin's Rail reported on NSW Birdline in Centennial Park in Sydney today (25th Nov) .

The bird obliged with two relatively extended views in the scope between 5.15 pm and 6pm. Great views-great bird. My son ,Ian, thought he saw two birds but this was not confirmed.

Directions

Enter via the Randwick gate. Proceed 300-400 metres until you see child's cycle track on the left. Walk across to the pond. You will see a drain with a white fence on your left. The bird is on the island on this rapidly drying pond. It showed near the patch of water lily closest to the eastern side of the island.

Other good birds here include Sharp-tailed Sandpiper and Latham Snipe.

There was also a report of a Little Bittern on Birdline but no location. I spent about half hour checking out the spot where the Little Bittern was last time in the mid 90's. No luck but that doesn't mean it wasn't. However, this is the most likely piece of habitat.
