Early morning yesterday, 22/11/02, I observed 2 male Black Honeyeaters in the trees around the old Quarantine Station at Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park, in Townsville.

This is well east of it's normal range and as far as I have been able to find, a new record for North Queensland, although I do have a faint recollection of it, or something like it, being recently recorded on the adjacent Town Common. I would appreciate if anyone could tell me of any previous sightings in NQ, if there are any.

One of the few pluses of the drought I suppose.
