As a serious side issue to this original posting I would like to draw
readers attention to the material recently published in Corella in the
Recovery Round up section.

Recoveries for Bar-tailed Godwit, Great Knot and Red Knot demonstrate
that there is still a large number (how many we do not know) of the
migratory waders being shot for food on their migration to and from the
breeding grounds. We are probably only receiving a small number of
returns from this source due to a number of reasons such as remoteness
of site and reluctance to return the band data.
