While doing my fatherly duty visiting kids and grand kids in Cowra, 300 odd Km east of Sydney, I did a little birding near the Pine Trees Caravan Park were we stayed. Along the road side verge I had great views of a male Pied Honeyeater for several minutes until a White-plumed He chased it off. Also there were lots of White-browed Woodswallows, some nest building, and the odd Masked. These were sometimes feeding in Grevillea Robusta that was in prolific flowering. Also some great views of 6 or so Superb Parrots also along the road verge. The drought is pushing some birds east all right.
