Hi all,

Spent a great morning at Wonga Wetlands near Albury on Sun 20th October. The highlight of the morning was three Freckled Duck on the far pond in a flock of over 300 Grey Teal.

Other interesting sightings were the tens of Black-fronted and Red-kneeded Dotterels, a Marsh Sandpiper and three Glossy Ibis. The ongoing drought has probably caused many birds to flock here.

Eight bird of prey species were seen, a Peregrine Falcon mobbing two White species-bellied Sea-eagles was interesting to watch. The Sea-eagles were also observed attempting to prey on Grey Teal, constantly harrasing them over the ponds.

I would highly recommend anyone visiting the Albury area to visit the wetlands. A large number and variety of species can always be seen.
