g'day all,
I thank Niven for confirming the Long-toed Stint photos.

Today, I took Ian Clayton (Birds & Bush Tours, Townsville) and Barry & Margie Hawthorne from Sth Africa to the well kept secret ..Wide Bay, Lake Moondarra.

Bingo !
The Long-toed Stints were still present giving Ian & the visitors a lifer.
Ian confirmed the other look alikes were Red-necked Stints as I thought.

But wait, that is not all
Also present, were at least 100 Oriental Plovers (which gave me a tick)

And, there is still more !
As we leaving we identified two American Golden Plover amongst the Oriental P
(These were previously called Lesser Golden or Pacific Golden.)

Last year I saw a pair in harder to identify eclipse plumage and it was not until I took some video of one with lifted wings and no dark armpits did I disqualify it as a Grey P.

And running around every where were Australian Pratincoles, Red-capped Plovers and a few Richard's Pipits.
Out on the water amongst the usual water fowl were a few Freckled Ducks and Great Crested Grebes.
At the waters edge I saw my first Common Greenshank for the season.

Isn't it just too easy to make birdwatchers happy ? They even bought me dinner at Townies !

Regards, Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
