Ian,

I use a Sony "Walkman" (Discman??) CD player with a set of Sony active
"travel" speakers powered by 4 AA's. The speakers go for about
$90-$100. The sound quality is really quite good and a CD allows you to
skip to and replay tracks very easily.

I haven't used MP3, the advantage I think is you can add and remove
tracks from your storage qute easily, when hooked up to a computer.

Having a CD burner to burn CD compilations for a particular area from
your tapes or CD's that you have is quite useful.

regards,

Chris Ross
