Hello Everyone

Was Keith's "Long Reef" Red-necked Stint just one lucky survivor from last years banding mutilations? Or have "Banders" (Ringers?) already started on them this season.

Very few small waders ever turn up again after suffering cannon netting, banding and leg flagging. Independent research shows that small waders such as Red-necked Stints and Curlew Sandpipers rarely survive one season after being caught, banded and leg flagged. Its time that the barbaric practices of leg flagging small migratory waders is stopped.

Hello All, there was a Red-necked Stint on Long Reef yesterday with a
Orange Flag on the right leg and a band on the other. Whoever
takes care of these records let me know and I will send a report in.
Long Reef for those who dont know is on the Northern Beaches Sydney.
