G'day All,

Just a super brief report on a trip out to Lake Broadwater and Jondaryan today. I decided to throw the swag in the ute last night and headed out to Lake Broadwater (via Dalby Qld ). There wasn't much observed on the way out apart from the usual ferals ( Cats and Foxes ). Did see a Rufous Bettong out near Maclagan ( I know its not a bird but nice to see all the same). A few Barn Owls on advisory signs beside the road between Kaimkillenbun and Dalby.

Most of the usual suspects out at Lake Broadwater apart from the waterbirds due to lack of water. Red-capped Robins, Inland Thornbills, Yellow Thornbills, Yellow-rumped Thornbills,Brown Honeyeater, Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater, Apostlebirds among many others. I also recorded six Diamond Doves here (a sign of dry times).

From Lake Broadwater I headed back to Jondaryan (Oakey Golf Club) to try for the third time here in 18mths for Painted Honeyeater. Within 5min of getting out the car there were two giving great views. I'm sure I heard a couple more in the distance. This was around 11am this morning and they were still calling sporadically when I left at about 11.30.

Quite a few White-winged Trillers on the way home as well as a pair of Blue Bonnets just north of Jondaryan on the road to Quinalow.

Cheers
Gavin
