Sightings

21 September

A single Crested Pigeon was seen in Frankston North outside the Mahogany Avenue shops, thanks Orenda.

 

21 September

A Baillon's Crake was visible at very close range at Westgate Park (just north of the Westgate Bridge on the city side of the river) from the wooden viewing platform at the north-east corner of the freshwater lake, thanks Richard Nowotny

 

19 September

A Spotted Harrier was seen five kilometres North West of Bairnsdale in farmland, thanks Roger Bilney.

 

14 September

2 Banded Lapwings and a Diamond Firetail were seen in paddocks from the car near the You Yangs, thanks Ben Sinclair.

 

15 September

At Point Wilson Rd in the Western Treatment Plant a Rufous Songlark and more than 60 Little Corellas, plus a few Long-billed Corellas, were seen, thanks Richard Nowotny

 

14 September

A pair of Long-billed Corellas were feeding on edge of golf course fairway at the Yarra Bend Golf Course, Fairfield, thanks Neville Pamment.

 

14 September

There was a male and female Freckled Duck at Edithvale Bird Hide, thanks Tim Bawden.

 

13 September

A Pale-headed Rosella was seen on the Merri Creek, near the corner of Cunningham  and Rucker Streets in Fitzroy North, thanks Rob Clements.

 

12 September

Latham's Snipe have been seen at a small wetland in the Bay of Islands Coastal Park near Peterborough, thanks Chris Tzaros.

 

8 September

A Square-tailed Kite along Peak School Rd, between the You Yangs and Little River, thanks Richard Nowotny.

 

7 September

3 White Headed Pigeons feeding in at Garnett's Track, Jarrahmond, 11 - 12 kms NW Orbost, take the B Road which passes the saleyards and Murray Goulburn to reach Garnett's Track, thanks Joy Johnstone.

 

7 September

There was a male Rose Robin in the north-eastern corner of the fenced-off area at Yarra Flats Park, Heidelberg, approx. 150m S.E. of the edge of the carpark, thanks Michael Mules. 


Updates


On the 23rd the Baillon's Crake made easy viewing at Westgate Park and was most recently seen on Monday, thanks Joy Tansey

 

The Freckled Ducks were again at the Edithvale Wetlands on the weekend, thanks David Billinghurst

 

The Swift Parrots have again been seen near the swimming pool at Monash University in Clayton on the 18th

 

On the 18th the Noisy Friarbird was still in the vicinity of Church Street, Brighton and has been for the last nine weeks, thanks Michael Norris
