I won't be seduced into a to-ing and fro-ing of arguments here but for those that want to search for it there is quite a bit of literature of the evolution of features that appear to be no direct benefit to that particular organism but immense value to another. I'm still a loooong way from being convinced that friarbirds migrate north because they don't like the cold.
