Hello all,

Spring is here in Bundaberg.

We had 5 inches of rain a few weeks ago and the place is looking
a bit fresher.

This morning ,in 15 mins in our back yard, myself and 2 of my kids
saw 39 species but the monarch highlights best of all...especially

White-eared Monarch.....2nd home record ....last time 29/8/00...What a great bird!!
Black-faced Monarch......last time 11/10/01
Spectacled Monarch.......last time 13/10/01...but saw it 16/09/02 also.
all in a single Rose Mahogany (Dysoxylon fraserannum )

Also Rufous Fantail,Mangrove KF,Mangrove HE,Mangrove Gerygone.

Other first arrival dates at home (North Bundaberg) are.

Channel-billed Cuckoo.....16/09/02
Pallid Cuckoo..................13/09/02
Common Koel..................13/09/02
Dollarbird.........................13/09/02

I'm at Portlands Road ,Iron Range btw 6/01/03 and 13/01/03.
If any other birders are brave enough to call in to the Cape in the wet
let me know....I'm flying into Lochart River from Cairns with my brother
and 2 kids.We have a whole house to ourselves on the beach.

Cheers,

Bill
