I'm about to head up from Melbourne to Coffs for a week (on primarily
non-birding business) and was wondering if anyone could direct me
towards local spots of interest for me to trawl on my off-times.

In light of recent discussions here, I think I can find some other Birds
Australia folk to vouch for me if you think they're especially sensitive
locations :-)
