Just a quick note to report on the trip undertaken
by ten birders on the Jodi Anne 2 through the Torres Strait over the past ten
days. Islands visited were: Dauan, Boigu, Saibai, Darnley, Dove Islet and
Warraber.
No new birds for the Australian list (as of now-
several birds seen need to be further researched eg: there seemed to be two
forms of White-eye on Darnley Island, Pale White-eye and something else much
more yellow). Highlights were many including:
Collared Imperial-Pigeon- Boigu and
Saibai.
Singing Starling- Boigu
Spotted Whistling-Duck- Boigu
Papuan Flowerpecker- An adult male seen on
Saibai.
More reports will follow. Good luck to the
second group who leave tomorrow for what should be another great ten
days.
