A Noisy Friarbird has been
seen between Carpenters and St Andrews Streets in Brighton, where there are
about six eucalypts, Melways 67 D/E11, thanks Michael Norris
25 August
A pair of Blue-billed Ducks
were seen on the Merri Creek near Lower Heidelberg Road, thanks Jocelyn
Priest.
18 August
15-20 Diamond Firetails and 5
Zebra Finches were seen along Sandy Creek Road (north of the You Yangs,
adjacent to the Ford Proving Ground), thanks Aaron Organ.
18 August
2 Swift Parrots were seen near
the Point Wilson Road turn off the Princess Freeway and a non-breeding
White-winged Black-tern was seen at the mouth of the Little River in the
Werribee Sewage Plant, thanks Edwin Vella.
17 August
A Latham's Snipe was seen at
Point Cook Coastal Park, along with 9 Brown Quail, Singing
Honeyeaters and a Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater, thanks Edwin Vella.
12 August
A Peregrine Falcon and a
Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater were seen close to Melbourne at the Yarra end of
Williamstown Rd in the wasteland along the riverbank, thanks Richard

A Buff-banded Rail was on the
Elsternwick Golf Course and there was also a Black-tailed Native-hen
at the larger lake in the south of Elsternwick Park, thanks Michael Norris

A Great-crested Grebe was seen

There
were two Brolgas at Reedy Lake, Geelong, readily visible from the dirt
mound at the end of Station Road, thanks John

Updates
The Powerful Owl was in an Acmena (labelled) more or
less above the path at the extreme south-eastern corner of Fern Gully on the
1st of August. Nearest gate is E Gate, walk c 150m down main
path, Canna Bed on your right, and a further 20m on your left path forks - the
bird should be above you, thanks Hugo Phillips
The Red-whiskered Bulbul was again seen at
Chelsworth Park on the 25th of August, Ivanhoe, thanks P
