At lunchtime today, from Cape Solander in Botany Bay NP a Sooty albatross was spotted gliding close to the water surface, then wheeling with wings vertical before beginning the next glide, it was quite close to shore with an obviously larger wingspan than the many Aust Gannets at similar distance offshore. Huge numbers of other smaller sea birds, were seen, but were too far off for ID with 8x42 binos. rgds, Chris Ross Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
