G'day, Inspired by Bill Jolly, and who isn't on occasion, I set off for the Lockyer Valley on Sunday with my wife, Kym. We'd left it a bit late but, in little over an hour, we had wonderful views of the long-staying Banded Stilt, Black-tailed Native-hen and Australian Spotted Crake. Impressive were the hundreds of Red-necked Avocets, Pink-eared Ducks and Plumed Whistling Ducks, and a prolonged encounter with a Little Grassbird was good value. We had to resist calling in on Abberton this time as Bill Jolly was being upgraded. I didn't ask whether it was his capacity, speed or memory (or any combination) but perhaps it will lead to even more interesting sightings? Cheers - Trevor Ford.
