Hi all
First Bee-eater of the season at Minnippi Parklands (Brisbane
southside) yesterday (Thursday 8th) and first Fan-tailed Cuckoo at J C
Trotter Memorial park (Burbank, Brisbane southside, UBD 203 G9)
Incidentally does anyone out there monitor the latter on a regular
basis? It's quite an interesting area. Although not flooded with birdlife,
it's a walk through eucalypt bush to Tingalpa resevoir and hence a fair
variety of species are available. I had up to 15 Whistling Kites and 3 Sea
Eagles yesterday - 7 Kites on the ground, at once, feeding in the drying
mud. Also 3 seperate pairs of Eastern Spinebills - one of my favourites -
and not commonly seen!
