Paul, I suggest you contact WIRES Sydney or Blue Mountains branch as they would probably have more information. My understanding (and this might be completely wrong as it's just hearsay) is that many die in winter, at least in the colder climates, as that is the time when they use their reserves of stored fat, thus receiving a sudden dose of environmental poisons which have been gradually building up and concentrating in their body fat. Perhaps someone else on the list has more information.
