Summarising from a submission brochure, The
Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority is concerned about loss of
biodiversity in the Marine Park and are rezoning the entire Park.
The first stage identified 70 areas of
marine biodiversity. The second stage reviewed existing zoning and found
the 70 identified areas were not sufficiently protected. And the third
stage is now seeking feedback from the public, by 6th August, with views
about rezoning.
