Further to John Boyce's request for vertebrate lists. A mammal colleague of mine here in NRE East Melbourne recommends you could try the IUCN website (http://www.iucn.org). Although they are mainly concerned with threatened species, they produce a series of Action Plans which list all species (see - http://www.iucn.org/themes/ssc/redlists/rlindex.htm). The Action Plans can be found at: http://www.iucn.org/themes/ssc/pubs/sscaps.htm My contact also advises that the Smithsonian Institution publishes a list of recognised species - but I am not sure how up to date that is - clearly, any hard copy material is out of date before it even reaches the shelves. cheers, Martin O'Brien NRE East Melbourne Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
