Well, at the Townsville Golf Club there are always large numbers of Bush Stone-Curlews - last week a group of 23 was sitting quietly 100m from the clubhouse in the middle of the day. Of course it's a bit hard to birdwatch on golf courses - when I'm playing it can sometimes be torturing to see fabulous birds but not be able to get the binos on them - you don't need binos for these Bush Stone-Curlews though.

Incidentally the Townsville Golf Club is also good for Yellow-throated Miners, which seem to be absent from the surrounding urban areas, but are resident, and have bred on the course. Fortunately they are quite friendly and I can get good views of them without binos as well.
