Hi everyone, has anyone else noticed increasing numbers of Long-billed
Corellas around Melbourne? I saw two flocks on Friday, one of around 20+
birds at Greenvale Reservoir (Northern Suburbs) and a flock of 50+ birds at
the Dandenong/Warragul turnoff of the Monash Freeway.
I'm particularly interested, as on a trip up through Central Victoria,
Long-billed Corellas far outnumbered Little Corellas in terms of frequency
of sightings. Also, Little Corellas have just recently (in the last two or
three years) turned up with any degree of frequency in the Strzelecki Ranges
in Sth Gippsland.
Other birds of interest that I saw at the Greenvale Reservoir included
Blue-billed Ducks and Little Lorikeets.
Cheers, Michael
