Yesterday at the farm, I saw a Spotted Harrier for the first time in Victoria, for me. The 1987 "Atlas of Victorian Birds" suggests that most Spotted Harriers are summer migrants but it is certainly not summer at the moment. Maybe, like the Black-tailed Native Hens which seemed to be everywhere, the harrier is escaping drought conditions inland.
