program are accessible at:

Summary
The exotic, invasive yellow crazy ant Anoplolepsis gracilipes has formed
supercolonies on Christmas Island since the mid 1990?s which are having a range
of devastating impacts on the ecology of the Christmas Island rainforest. Ground
baiting programs have proved extremely effective at killing crazy ants, but
crazy ant super colonies are very widespread and extend over about 2500ha.
Aerial baiting by helicopter was found to be feasible and economic with a high
chance of success. If successful, this operation which is planned for September
2002 will bring all existing crazy ant supercolonies under control.
