Hi All,
George Appleby has just phoned me from a beach near Barwon Heads (on the
surf coast in Victoria) to report that a short beach walk (~2km) has so far
produced Fairy (1), Slender-billed (multiple) , Antarctic (1) , Savin's type
(multiple) and Broad-billed (multiple) Prions along with the more usual
Fairy Penguins and a fluttering shearwater. All are dead and look like
they've been on the beach for a couple of days. Given the gales we've been
experiencing in the last couple of days now is clearly a good time to check
the tide line of your local beach for beach washed seabirds.
(Fingers crossed for the Port Fairy pelagic scheduled for this coming
weekend! Did the SW WA pelagic scheduled for this weekend get out?)
