Sightings

30 May

3 Brolgas were seen in a paddock near the Austin Road Lagoons, looking towards Avalon Airport, in the Western Treatment Plant, thanks David Stabb.

 

26 May

A morning trip to the You Yangs revealed among many active birds 3 Diamond Firetails and 2 Painted Button-Quail, thanks Paul Rose.

 

26 May

Highlights of an excursion to the Werribee Treatment Plant were copious numbers of Freckled Duck, an Australasian Bittern, and two White-bellied Sea Eagles (1 adult and 1 juvenile), thanks Debra Saxon Campbell.

 

25 May

Fifteen White-throated Needletails hawking over Wesley College - Glen Waverley campus, thanks Paul Rose.

 

23 May

Four Brolgas feeding in a stubble field near Reedy Lake Wildlife Reserve Moolap, thanks Ron Corinaldi.

 

19 May

Singing Honeyeaters and Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters have been seen since the 10th of April, near Sandringham Harbour on the cliff above Sailboard HQ, thanks Michael Norris.

 

17 May

A flock of 9 Hooded Plovers including one juvenile feeding at the eastern end of Lake Victoria near the Emily St entrance of Lake Victoria, Point Lonsdale, thanks Ron Corinaldi.

 

14 May

Two Swift Parrots were sitting on a nearby tree on the east side carpark of the Southland Shopping Centre, thanks Albert Shirlton.

 

12 May

Chris Coleborn saw a Major Mitchell's Cockatoo on the edge of Cohuna township with a flock of Galahs.

 

12 May

A single grey morph Eastern Reef Egret was seen at Swan Bay (Queenscliff) next to where the train line intersects with Fellows Rd, thanks Tim Dolby.
