Hi Bob Glad my guess was right even though the bird was described as rather grey for the usual Streptopelia plumages. I hadn't realised that they hybridise with Rock Doves Columbia livea. Does that happen in the wild - or just in cages ? Are the young fertile ? Anyhow I hope Peter will take appropriate action. The Birding-Aus archive has quite a bit about them but it may already be too late to stop them getting on to the Australian bird list and doing what ever they do to native species.
