Alas, the coordinate readout offers sub-arcsecond _resolution_, but
it doesn't appear to be _accurate_ to that level.  I compared some of
my GPS waypoints, and there were noticable differences between the two 
readings; I tried WGS84 and AGD66, so I don't think it's a datum issue.
One of the areas I checked had an obvious discontinuity in the map - 
there was a gap between two of the Melways pages, and the road was offset
sideways between the two (it should be a straight road.)  

Even so, the accuracy is no worse - and probably better - than what you 
would read off a paper map, so it should be fine for atlassing.

In country areas, if you zoom in far enough you will actually get 
AUSLIG topo. maps rather than the Melways touring maps, which is
very handy.
