Hi everyone.I dont like pouring cold water on such as this, but the article
in the Syd Herald page 7, yesterday Urban Samaritans, encourages
suburbanites to lock up the cat at night giving the impression that this
will ensure that wildlife will be safe. My observations in regards to cats
is that it is in the day when they catch most of their prey.Skinks and
birds being high on the list of daylight prey. Most of the birds that a cat
could catch are roosting at night, and are not the majority of
skinks/lizzards daylight bods.
Nest boxes in suburban areas are also encouraged but these are usualy taken
over by C/ Myna or Starlings.
Planting grevilleas is great providing they are not the Robin Gordon types
that flower all the time providing a constant food source to those other
Miners.
