Hello Barry,Claire & All, The local Magpie flock has produced of recent years, two melanistic birds , the only white appearing on the bill, and at the moment , a full white-back is visiting from time to time As regards Magpie behaviour, they consistently hide unrequired food which is frequently retrieved in their absence by another Magpie. Their predatory tendencies were first revealed when I watched two Magpies catch and kill a half-grown rat. Reg St. Ives NSW |
