Two Budgerigars seen on the Macquarie River at Dubbo today.
I travelled across the Liverpool Plains (south of Gunnedah, south-west of
Tamworth) last Thursday and again on Monday. As always I was on my way to
and from somewhere (this time Coffs Harbour) so didn't have any time for
birding. Nevertheless you see things from the car. Nothing startling -
Cockatiel and Black-faced Woodswallows - but lots (and I mean LOTS) of
Black-shouldered Kites (couldn't turn any into Letterwings). Given the
invasion of mice into my home at the moment (the joys of living in the
country) this is hardly surprising.
On Monday I was a bit taken back by seeing an Indian Myna some 5
kilometres north of Tambar Springs. This is further west than I have seen
them in this part of the world. The march continues unabated!
