Sightings


12 May
Chris Coleborn saw a Major Mitchell's Cockatoo on the edge of Cohuna township with a flock of Galahs.
 
9 May
3 Hooded Plovers were seen at the mouth of the Tidal River on Norman Beach in Wilson's Promontory National Park, thanks Damian Cooney.
 
5 May
Swift Parrots were seen flying over Eltham, thanks Ian Temby.
 
5 May
At least 5 Swift Parrots were seen between Laurel Grove and Pakenham Street, Blackburn, Melways ref. 47 H11, on the creek, and on both sides in tall eucalypts, thanks Trevor Kerr.
 
4 May
At least 5 Swift Parrots were present at the You Yangs Regional Park in flowering eucalypts near Hovell's Creek, thanks Richard Nowotny
 
28 April
2 Australasian Bittern were flushed at dusk on Lake Coonawarre at the Moolap Station Rd entrance, thanks Tim Dolby.
 
28 April
A Powerful Owl was seen in a liquidamber tree in Beverley Road, Heidelberg, thanks Anthea Fleming.
 
27 April
A single Lesser Sandplover was seen at Sandy Point on Shallow Inlet, with a group of Hooded Plovers and Red-capped Plovers, thanks Noel Billing.
 
26 April
A House Crow was seen perched on a fence at 33 Victoria Street, Sebastopol, thanks Ralph Reid.
 
26 April
At least 2 Swift Parrots, initially and up to 50 on the 28th, were seen flying around the car-parks just to the south of the Bayview Avenue entrance to the Monash Clayton campus, thanks Aidan Sudbury.
 
24 April
A Regent Honeyeater was seen at Cyanide Dam, in the Chiltern National Park, thanks Paul Hackett.
 
Updates

The Swift Parrots were again seen at Monash Uni on the 2nd of May.  Parking in the area can be difficult and restrictions are enforced and the birds tend to move on after 3pm, thanks Alex Farias.
