My son made a tragic discovery yesterday morning. He found a freshly killed Powerful Owl on the side of the road near our house in Mangerton (Wollongong). The owl died with a Pied Currawong tightly clasped in its talons. It appears that the owl had been struck and killed by a car. I have never recorded a Powerful Owl in the suburbs before. There is a small reserve in the area, so perhaps the owl had flown out from there to hunt.
