Reg Clark siad There used to be a noticeable number of usually Yellowfaced and Whitenaped HE's Silvereyes with a sprinkling of other species moving north up the valley behind my house in suburban St Ives in Sydney's north. For the past four years at least, most of the activity seems to be directed up the inland mountainous country, with fewer birds taking the coastal route which is possibly becoming less hospitable as the years go by. I wonder whether this is just a local change or is apparent in the wider picture? Here in Cooranbong (~120 km N of Sydney) we have had very few Yellow-faced Honeyeaters moving through this year. Just a few small groups. Lots fewer than usual Paul Osborn Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
