"Hi all,
A few lines from the front on Ischia. During the past few days, working
together with the Carabinieri, we have kept hunters under observation
and managed to catch 5 of them red-handed and confiscate their shotguns,
hundreds of shotgun cartridges and many shot Turtle Doves. Now that the
word has spread that we are active on the island, traps are few and far
between; nevertheless we managed to find and remove 100 which contained
a small but sad total of 7 Whinchats, I Wheatear and 4 Nightingales.
Whereas 3 days ago shots could be heard all over the place we have since
then seen only one hunter in the distance. The hunting fraternity seems
to have got cold feet as a result of our combined operation with the
police. Yesterday one of our groups was attacked by trappers but the
conflict was more show than anything else.
Migration: Since the day before yesterday there has been heavy Spotted
Flycatcher passage; since yesterday Golden Orioles (in the course of 2
hours in the morning we saw at least 100); and there are still lots of
Whinchats.

"Hi Proacters and others,
Just a brief message to say something about the second Cyprus campaign
of LAC, Italian League against Hunting, partner of Proact. Five of us,
in four days, destroyed more than 1600 lime sticks (which the poachers
use to capture little migratory birds), one net, setting free 111 birds
(and one agama).
