I read with interest your records of Glossy Black-Cockatoos 23.6km NE of
Goolgowi. Glossy Black-Cockatoos have been regularly recorded in that
region (the Riverina). In 1979 and 1990, GBC's were recorded 25km NE of
Goolgowi, which is very close to your recent sighting. There are other
records around Hay and a little east at Rankin Springs, as well as other
records scattered throughout the Riverina region, including Cocoparra NP.
All of these records are for the isolated population of Glossy
Black-Cockatoos that occurs in the Riverina. This population is listed as
an Endangered Population under Schedule 1, Part 2 of the Threatened Species
Conservation Act 1995.
