Morning all,
While driving through from West Wyalong to Adelaide yesterday at 7.52 a.m.
and looking for Superb Parrots, we noticed some Black Cockatoo looking
things sitting in a eucalypt 23.6km
NE of Goolgowi at 33 54 26s 145 58 30e. Going back for a better look they
turned out to be Glossy Black Cockatoos, which at the time we thought a long
way west for them. Checking our field guides soon showed them to actually be
at the western known limit of their range. We were surprised to see them as
one tends to think of them as a bird more of SE Oz rather than out there in
the donga of the SW of NSW.
Once we stopped and switched off the motor they flew about a km further SW
along the highway with us following, then veered off further west before
going out of view.
(Yes Andrew, I started the engine again to do this bit.)
I put in an incidental atlas report on them.
Tony .
