The Laughing Gull on Bribie Island has gone awol, not having been seen for
the past few days (the last time that I saw it was on Saturday afternoon).
Perhaps it has been overwhelmed with the urge to mate and left for distant
shores. Know the feeling. I will report back if it reappears.
Bribie Island still has good birds, though, with plenty of Double-banded
Plovers, White-winged Black Terns (many now in full breeding plumage) and a
single Lesser Crested Tern. Having previously described an Osprey being
robbed by a Pelican, today a Whistling Kite was the beneficiary, grabbing a
fish from an Osprey's talons in mid-air.
I've received more support than abuse for my missives on Scoppy's so I'll
confirm that Paul Walbridge's favourite, the Mixed Grill, is pretty good,
especially if you ask for their mushroom and onion gravy.
