Hi Koren I have not seen Darters right in Melbourne and I would have been excited by seeing one at Southbank too. Darters breed in Kew, in dead trees in a dam on a golf course next to the eastern freeway, only some 8 or nine km from the CBD, along with Great and Little Black Cormorants. I think what is surprising is that we do not see them more often along the lower Yarra River.
