g'day all,
Paul Hackett provided me with the answer to Mike Boyd's
query.
1
The early (1 to 4) editions of S & D illustrate the green
on edge of the male's wing when at rest.
2
But Paul gave me the clue to go to the Victorian Natural
Resources and Environment site at
Click "Plants and Animals"
Search for the words " Australian Waterfowl
"
Click the outline of the Wood Duck.
(The URL for this page is too long to include
here.)
Frank Knight's illustration clearly shows the stripe on
upperwing as green.
I did not realise from S & D 5th &
6th editions this stripe was green.
Regards, Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
