Hi Folks,
Again, a message forwarded from that may be of interest and gives some contacts. It seems our bird created a sensation over there. I don't have a direct role in this, I have been on years of wader surveys but have not banded a wader (though I support the studies of those that have done so).

Dear Brian and birdnetters ---
The following comes from Dr Pavel Tomkovich, who is ornithologist at the museum of the Moscow State University, and one of the world's leading wader specialists. He
suggests that Brian's yellow legflagged CuSa comes from NW Australia. If this proves to be the case, this bird is getting on to be as exciting as the Great Knot at Langebaan, because it will be the first record of a CuSa that has changed its nonbreeding grounds
between the two southern continents! --- Les

Hello Les!

My guess is that the bird originates from NW Australia where all waders
receive yellow flag on right tibia. It would be the very first such movement
