A friend and I had a similar experience while spotlighting for Masked Owls in the Brisban Forest Park a couple of years ago. We had just pulled into Camp Mountain Picnic area and got out all the essentials, bins, camera, spotlight and sound gear when a car drove in and pulled up beside us. The window went down and a voice from inside asked us what were doing. Apparently a patrol car was in the area and pulled in to check the area. We replied that we were spotlighting for Owls. The cops wished us a good night and left. I bet that that was not what they had been expecting but at least it was original and we had all the props. The picnic area is a way off the road and I am sure all sorts of other "dealings" could or would happen there after dark. Alas, no owls that evening and I'm still looking.
