Hi All

Nevil is quite right that the proposal for a marine
sanctuary at Ricketts Point is back - so thanks to all who
asked for its reinstatement.

BUT the boundaries are being left to a consultation process
over the next few weeks with "key community stakeholders" or
"the local community".

So please, anyone who has bird or other data on the area
which might help, please let me know. I'm particularly
interested in waders or uncommon seabirds at Table Rock and
Quiet Corner. If anyone can confirm the Terek Sandpiper
reported at Table Rock last year I would be very interested
to have details !

More generally the fishing lobby (commercial and
recreational) is going to be working hard to oppose the Bill
so support for the marine parks and sanctuaries addressed to
members of the State parliament will still be important for
a month or two (I'd cross my fingers if I weren't typing !).

Evidence/pressure about the Corner Inlet broad-leaved
seagrass communities etc. would, I understand, be
particularly valuable.
