G'day all

Robert's comment "...If you are thinking about a 'scope, go to a wader ID
outing and try as many
different models as possible..." made me start thinking (quite a feat in
itself, that).

Few venues exist at which comparative assessment of the various binos,
scopes, digital cameras, etc, etc, can be made. Wouldn't it be something if
BA or BOCA or some other organisation with a little clout was to organise a
'trade show' for birders - put a little thought into it, and you can come up
with a fairly wide range of suppliers/manufacturers that might be persuaded
to trot out their wares, and allow the multitudes of avid birders out there
to get some knowledge of what is available and do some real hands-on
comparisons of products and services.

Let's think - binos, scopes, cameras, software, field guides, field
clothing, boots, associations/clubs looking for members, tour operators,
places offering birding-oriented accommodation .......... Plus it would be
a great birders convention.

Any thoughts?
