Subject: [BIRDING-AUS] A Victorian in South Australia
I will be in SA next week on a work trip and hope to see the Hudwit (thanks
Ian May). Are there any other essentials? I will be in Adelaide then the
Barossa and south to Victor Harbour. Best spots?
Kaisterstuhl Conservation Park is close to the Barossa and has a nice
walking
trail and quite good birding. Sandy Creek CP is on the way to the Barossa
from
Adelaide and is a great spot. You should aim to spend a few hours looking
around Penrice Salt Fields where the Hudwit is. There are plenty of parks in
the Adelaide hills that are only a short drive from the city and have nice
bushwalks and birding - Morialta and Belair are two of the more popular
nearby parks.
The Fleurieu Birdwatchers have a really nice brochure "Birdwatching on the
Southern Fleurieu" with places to go birding around Victor Harbor. You can
get it at tourist centres or contact them - see their Web site
