There were 30 or more Freckled Duck late this afternoon at Lake Lorne, Drysdale
(Melways Ref 238 C11) on the Bellarine Peninsula, se of Geelong.

This is a remarkably easy place to see this species - it is basically a
medium-sized lake in a park beside the Geelong-Portarlington Road.
There were all the usual species expected here, including Aus Shoveler,
Hardhead, and Black-fronted Dotterel, but I couldn't find Blue-billed Duck
today before it got dark - they are usually here.

I haven't heard of Freckled Duck in this spot before - does anyone have any
records of them on the Bellarine?

Russell
