Hi all
interesting comments on the Old Bar Kentish Plover, whether there
is one bird, or two, or whether the collar is complete etc. From the
photos that Trevor Quested kindly sent me the collar looks pretty
clear. On the Darwin bird the collar was broad, though sometimes
when the bird was hunched up it was difficult to see that it was
continuous. Now the questions:
I notice in the Handbook of Western Australian Birds that there is a
record of Kentish Plover from Leslie Saltworks, 4 April 1993. Does
anyone have more first hand info on this one? There was also a
report from Darwin in the Bird Observer several or many years ago,
(though post-1988) for which I have no details. I'd appreciate any
info on this report if anyone can offer some.
If the current Kentish sighting is going to be published, the writers
will need this info as well, so it's worthwhile chasing it up.

Many thanks
Niven
